x64 MAME Cabinet - gathering the parts

OK, so what do we need to build this thing?

The Hardware
I already have the PC hardware which came from my games PC. But since we have an Xbox 360, it only ever got used to surf. So this PC is overkill for surfing and a great donor PC for M.A.M.E.

Motherboard : Asus P5W; Intel 975X (Glenwood-DG + ICH7R)

CPU : Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700 @ 2.66GHz; G0; Kentsfield; SLACQ; Cache 2x32 + 2x32 + 2x4096

Graphics : nVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX+(G92); 512Mb GDDR3 SDRAM

The rest of the system;
RAM : 8Gb - 2x Corsair CM2X2048-8500C5D + 2x PC2-6400 DDR2-SDRAM UDIMM
Disk : WDC WD5001ABYS-18YNA0(500Gb, 16Mb)
Audio : Realtek ALC882
NIC : Marvell Yukon 88E8053 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller
NIC : Sitecom WL-171 wireless 54G
OS : Windows XP 64bit

The Cabinet
This isn't a done deal yet, bit hopefully I'll be picking this up soon. For some reason arcade machines seem to be super rare in Nova Scotia

Cabinet : Double Dragon - The Revenge; JAMMA linky

JAMMA harness
8-way Joystick
3 Buttons: [Left AttackJumpRight Attack]

PC to Arcade Machine Interface
JAMMA Interface : J-Pac - this I have already

The Software

OS : Windows XP x64
M.A.M.E. : MAME64
Frontend : Mala linky

Future plans
Depending on the results, replace the GTX 9800+ with an Arcade VGA board

  1. I hope u dont rip that cabinet to pieces! That double dragon 2 is down right sweet. Hopefully you just add controls maby? Im running win 7 64bit with hyperspin and it runs like a dream. The mame 64 is smooth and works well. You really have to get a good system to run the newer games like atomis and naomi etc.. I have mvc2 and dead or alive 2 running on mine full speed. Im going to follow your blog looks great man! we are a dieing breed for sure.

  2. Hey....I've not collected the cab, it's been in storage for many years apparently, so not sure what condition it's in.

No plans to make any external changes other than adding a power and reset button...not sure where to place them tho.

Internally, I'll simply remove the game board and plug in my PC.....well that's the plan anyways :-)
